Help is needed after the Cowboy Action shoot tomorrow performing maintenance in the shooting pits. Most of the work will be done with machines, but some of the tighter areas require rake and shovel. If you have a rake or a shovel and are available to start around 2:30 or 3:00PM your help would be greatly appreciated.
We need volenteers to help spread fine gravel around the buildings and shooting areas at the Cowboy and Practical Pistol Stages. We will start at 10:00 am Tuesday, September 3rd and please bring a garden rake and shovel if you have one. If any one has a wheel barrel please bring it along to help move some gravel around. Although this will not be a offical MSC Work Day, The Cowboy and Practical Pistol Shooting Area Will Be Closed For The Day !
Just an FYI regarding the upcoming Practical Handgun shoot on Sunday the 18th. The cover garment rule will be in effect. Make sure to bring/wear a shirt/jacket/vest/etc that will cover your holster. In response to the positive feedback from last week's evening shoot, we will be shooting a moving target. Finally, scores for hi-cap and low-cap (10 rounds or less) are going to be kept separate. Make sure to mark your card appropriately during registration in the morning.
The weather was nice and we had a pretty good turn out with new shooters to try out their skills. Eagle Eye Emma and her pa left a good impression with their shooting skills and enjoyed them self even with the heckeling from the rest of us ! Dodge Bill had sent us some crazy Stage set ups for the shoot but they were fun, may be he's trying to get back at us for busten him about his wheel chair ? Just a reminder that the Cowboy Action Shoot at North Mountain for August will be the 18th and not the 25th.
Due to the great turnout another weekday/evening Practical Handgun shoot has been scheduled for Wednesday, September 4th. Signup between 5:30PM and 5:59PM, mandatory safety briefing at 6:00PM. As always, show up early if you can help setup.
Another great turnout with 26 shooters. Results are available on the Practical Handgun page.
Results from the shoot yesterday have been posted to the Practical Handgun page. Another good turnout and 4 very fun stages.
The MSC Target Construction Team are looking for a few more volenteers to help out constructing targets approximately twice a month. The target construction is a key factor in order for all members and guest to shoot at during your visit at the range and need to be replaced often. Please contact John at 570-814-1810 to help out the team.
The Cowboy Action Shooters put up with high heat and really sweated it out in their Cowboy and Cowgirl outfits in order to get a good day of shooting in. Two young gals shot a Clean Match in all that heat, guessin their size had a lot to do with it. Congratulations goes out to Al Zee and Liv A Little , great shooting gals. We still have some Cowboys - Dusty Ed, Dodge Bill and Dedeye Mike on the side lines and all of our thoughts and prayers are with them !
Another evening handgun shoot has been scheduled for Tuesday, August 6th. The mandatory safety meeting begins at 6PM, signup before. Help setting up will be appreciated.
Results from the shoot on the 30th are available on the 3 Gun page. The stages were challenging enough on their own but things really got interesting when the rain showed up. I haven't had a chance to grab all the photos off of Facebook yet so if you haven't seen them already keep checking back as I plan to get them on the website tomorrow. Hope to see everybody again in September.
Results from the evening shoot are available on the Practical Handgun page. Quite an impressive turnout for the first evening shoot.
Due to popular demand, a fourth class has been scheduled for the 2013 Handgun Usage, Safety and General Knowledge Program at the Mainville Sportsman Club on September 13th and 14th. Like the other classes, this will be presented by Paul DeAngelo of the Columbia County Sheriff's Deparment. For more detailed information and a printable registration form, please visit the Handgun Program activity page. Contact Dennis Jaskiewicz with any questions you may have.
Minimum round counts are as follows
These would be the minimum number of rounds to engage each target with no misses. Hint....BRING EXTRA AMMO!
ALL shooters must bring a box of quality, FACTORY, 9mm FMJ ammo for each run (Federal or Winchester is recommended). All shooters will be using a provided 9mm M16 for one stage. If you are shooting multiple classes, you'll need a box for each run.

The Cowboy Action Scores for June 9th are posted. We had a good turn out of 26 shooters including 3 new shooters along with two helpers and Dodge Bill stuck temporarily in a wheel chair to give his support and coach us on. All went well thanks to a group of many to help put the June shoot together and a special thanks goes out to Arnold Halye for spending his day at the club grounds in the rain roping off the parking area and talking to the IBS shooters about the Cowboy Action event going on the same day.
