We would like to welcome everyone to our first Buffalo Match on the 16th of April, 2016. We have a few changes this year. First the polls for the running buffalo were redesign by Dusty Ed over the winter this will make set-up and break down allot easier and faster.
Second you will see new small plates with an additional plate at 300 yards while still using Mr. Pig it will remain one point while the new small target will be two points same as the others so now a perfect score will be 40 instead of 36. Again I would like to Thank Mr. Ed for taking the time to work on this project over the winter months.
In short looking forward to a great year and seeing everyone on the 16th of April 2016. If you can try and spread the word around to help grow our monthly shoots that would be great .I know we have one or two new shooters for the year again let's try and get it up to 20 plus per month
To all our shooters have a Safe and Happy Easter
Jimmy D., Joey C. and Dusty Ed.
The April Practical Handgun match will be a revolver/pocket pistol friendly match. Magazines will be limited to 6 rounds per mag on all stages with up to 2 mag changes (18 rounds) possible per stage. Bring speed loaders or extra mags as needed. Provisions will be made for 5 shot firearms if needed.
Foul weather keep some of the Cowboys hiding back at their ranch but we had a good match any way. Mifflin Kid was doing fantastic until the last stage. Then with his Irons slingen lead didn't hit the right targets for some reason. Guess Dodge Bill changed up the scenario a little to much but not enough to stop Lead Slinger Leroy with a over all win. You would never guess it but Rushtown Kid Got a new Buck Board, Mules and cleaned the winters rust of his irons and finished with yet another clean match. Rumor has it that he gave his old mule "Nelly" to the score keeper. Congratulations Rushtown Kid for another clean match.
The 2016 schedule has been filled out for our Steel shoot with the first shoot taking place on April 3rd! We have elected to discontinue to shotgun and carbine classes this season, which effectively makes it a pistol only event. We will continue scoring Open, Limited and Limited 8 separately.
Please be advised there is no Steel shoot this month contrary to what you may have read in the newspaper. We are sorry for any confusion on the matter. Right now we are looking to run the first shoot in April. Once everything is set in stone the schedule will be posted.
April 2 will be our annual dues and work day (weather permitting), 9AM until 5PM. The kitchen will be open, workers get lunch and the thanks of the Board Of Directors.
2016 dues are now payable. You can pay at Curt's Gun Shop or at any regular club meeting (see schedule on website).
The new electric gate is now operating. To get an electronic key card you must pay your 2016 dues. In the meantime, the combination lock with the 2015 gate code has been moved up the hill to the gate on the right of the electric gate. The 2015 code will work only until April 21st (the day of the April meeting). Please lock the gate behind you upon entering, you may exit via the electric gate without leaving your vehicle.
The weather was cooperative and a good number of shooters made it out for the event. Here are the results.
We are looking forward to the start of the 2016 Buffalo Shoot in April. Last year we had an exciting finish with Dusty Ed coming in by One Shot over the past two year winner John Seniw. Let's try and get the word out to everyone and hopefully we can grow the Buffalo Match with a larger attendance. In the next week or so we will be posting the starting date of the first shoot in April. In the mean time we are looking at replacing the small targets with new ones and maybe making a few changes. As the first shoot gets closer we will be doing an update. Looking forward to seeing everyone and more in April first Buffalo match. Don't forget to pass the word and let's try and get some new shooters.
A Work Day has been scheduled for Saturday, January 9th from 8AM until finished. We will be installing the conduit for the new gate system, and conditions allowing, building a dirt backstop in the 100 yard pit. Bring able bodies, shovels, rakes, and hand tools for pipe installation.
Thank you to all who attended and contributed to the Holiday Party and Fundraiser. It was a great success, we were able to raise over $600 for the families, despite a small turnout. We would like to make this an annual event and hope to see you all next year. Have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Holiday Party and Fundraiser Time is changed to 6:00 pm on December 12th.
Also we are hoping to have more members and families support this party, so we can make it an annual event. There will be lots of food and refreshments, also some awesome Gift baskets are being raffled. Come have some fun, socialize and relax.
Text, email or voicemail is fine with number of attendees. Any questions, or for more detailed info, contact Karen or JoJo.
The last match for the year was a good one with the Mifflin Kid taking the over all win, congratulations kid. It started out a little nippy in the morning but turned out to be a nice over all day with a fantastic lunch donated by Barb Bergen, Texas Frank and others. The Mainville Mauraders would like to thank every one for helping out this year and too look forward to a great year in 2016 ! With that said don't forget to fatten up the mules, grease the axles on the buckboard and oh yea clean all your shooten irons for next year.
We have set up a table in the club house for non perishable food and household goods items. Please help us to collect items for two families in need over the holidays. Goods can be given to any of the club officers, Karen and Bill Hunsinger, John and Jojo or can be put in the clubhouse when it is open. Donations will be collected now through December 13th. If you have a donation and can't get to the clubhouse please call Karen (570-854-1507) or JoJo (570-231-9266) and we will make arrangements.
Results from today's Steel shoot are available below. This was our last scheduled steel match for the season. It is possible that we will run one or more over the winter if weather conditions are favorable and other things fall into place, but as of right now there are no specific plans to do so until Spring.
If you have been considering joining, come and check out the facilities as a guest of the Board of Directors.
The October buffalo scores are now posted as we come to the end of another year of some great shooting and friendship. We would like to first thank everyone again for showing up and supporting this great event and looking forward to next year hopefully we will have some new shooters coming out every month. A little history on the Buffalo trophy In 2012 Our Past President of Mainville Sportsman Club Arnold Halye and Buffalo Rifle shooter wanted to do something special for the top shooter with the highest combine score for the year, over that winter he design and made a statue of a Buffalo shooter out of pewter with a wood base that would be presented to the top shooter with his name and score placed on the trophy to be return the following year for the next top shooter. We now have a new winner for the Buffalo Trophy for the year 2015 and its no other than our Dusty Ed with his New Shiloh Rifle. With a score of 252, in second place with a score of 251 John Seniw and in third place with a score of 242 Mike Laurie . As the Holiday's get closer. We would like to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving, Blessed Merry Christmas and Happy New Year's to you and your families. And God Bless. And to all our Military serving overseas God speed and a safe return.
We had a several new shooters return to test their skills but Dodge Bill set up the stages again in a mixed rotation in order to keep every one thinking. We had a new shooter, the score keeper "Bad Lands Bill" and he did quite well for his first time. Keller Hollow Kid moved up the rankings and finished third, must of gave the score keeper an extra gold nugget. Again the Beaver Run Kid took the over all win with Dodge Bill chasing him down in second place. Loco Lefty swears shes gonna swap her mules and buckboard for a better set of shooten irons for the next match and boy can she swear up a storm !
