We are looking forward to the start of the 2016 Buffalo Shoot in April. Last year we had an exciting finish with Dusty Ed coming in by One Shot over the past two year winner John Seniw. Let's try and get the word out to everyone and hopefully we can grow the Buffalo Match with a larger attendance. In the next week or so we will be posting the starting date of the first shoot in April. In the mean time we are looking at replacing the small targets with new ones and maybe making a few changes. As the first shoot gets closer we will be doing an update. Looking forward to seeing everyone and more in April first Buffalo match. Don't forget to pass the word and let's try and get some new shooters.
A Work Day has been scheduled for Saturday, January 9th from 8AM until finished. We will be installing the conduit for the new gate system, and conditions allowing, building a dirt backstop in the 100 yard pit. Bring able bodies, shovels, rakes, and hand tools for pipe installation.
Thank you to all who attended and contributed to the Holiday Party and Fundraiser. It was a great success, we were able to raise over $600 for the families, despite a small turnout. We would like to make this an annual event and hope to see you all next year. Have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Holiday Party and Fundraiser Time is changed to 6:00 pm on December 12th.
Also we are hoping to have more members and families support this party, so we can make it an annual event. There will be lots of food and refreshments, also some awesome Gift baskets are being raffled. Come have some fun, socialize and relax.
Text, email or voicemail is fine with number of attendees. Any questions, or for more detailed info, contact Karen or JoJo.
The last match for the year was a good one with the Mifflin Kid taking the over all win, congratulations kid. It started out a little nippy in the morning but turned out to be a nice over all day with a fantastic lunch donated by Barb Bergen, Texas Frank and others. The Mainville Mauraders would like to thank every one for helping out this year and too look forward to a great year in 2016 ! With that said don't forget to fatten up the mules, grease the axles on the buckboard and oh yea clean all your shooten irons for next year.
We have set up a table in the club house for non perishable food and household goods items. Please help us to collect items for two families in need over the holidays. Goods can be given to any of the club officers, Karen and Bill Hunsinger, John and Jojo or can be put in the clubhouse when it is open. Donations will be collected now through December 13th. If you have a donation and can't get to the clubhouse please call Karen (570-854-1507) or JoJo (570-231-9266) and we will make arrangements.
Results from today's Steel shoot are available below. This was our last scheduled steel match for the season. It is possible that we will run one or more over the winter if weather conditions are favorable and other things fall into place, but as of right now there are no specific plans to do so until Spring.
If you have been considering joining, come and check out the facilities as a guest of the Board of Directors.
The October buffalo scores are now posted as we come to the end of another year of some great shooting and friendship. We would like to first thank everyone again for showing up and supporting this great event and looking forward to next year hopefully we will have some new shooters coming out every month. A little history on the Buffalo trophy In 2012 Our Past President of Mainville Sportsman Club Arnold Halye and Buffalo Rifle shooter wanted to do something special for the top shooter with the highest combine score for the year, over that winter he design and made a statue of a Buffalo shooter out of pewter with a wood base that would be presented to the top shooter with his name and score placed on the trophy to be return the following year for the next top shooter. We now have a new winner for the Buffalo Trophy for the year 2015 and its no other than our Dusty Ed with his New Shiloh Rifle. With a score of 252, in second place with a score of 251 John Seniw and in third place with a score of 242 Mike Laurie . As the Holiday's get closer. We would like to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving, Blessed Merry Christmas and Happy New Year's to you and your families. And God Bless. And to all our Military serving overseas God speed and a safe return.
We had a several new shooters return to test their skills but Dodge Bill set up the stages again in a mixed rotation in order to keep every one thinking. We had a new shooter, the score keeper "Bad Lands Bill" and he did quite well for his first time. Keller Hollow Kid moved up the rankings and finished third, must of gave the score keeper an extra gold nugget. Again the Beaver Run Kid took the over all win with Dodge Bill chasing him down in second place. Loco Lefty swears shes gonna swap her mules and buckboard for a better set of shooten irons for the next match and boy can she swear up a storm !
The Buffalo Scores for the September 19th shoot are now posted; we had some nice scores this month bringing this year's scores closer with only a few points difference from the top three shooters. As everyone knows to win this Trophy you are required to have the highest combine score of the three matches. And that will determine the winner of the Dusty Ed Buffalo Rifle Trophy. Next month will be the last shoot for the 2015 year. Let's try and make it the largest turnout for the year. Looking forward to seeing everyone in October for the grand finally
Shooters will be shooting paper targets with a center X. Closest BB to the X is the winner of designated prize for that round.
A little on the damp side but the rain held off through out the day. We had two new shooters attend, welcome Loco Lefty and Two Bullets to the Cowboy Action style shooting event. Dodge Bill set up the stages in a backwards shooting rotation with the irons and it proved to be a little harder to follow the course of fire. No clean matches this time folks, guess through the figuring out each stage shooting order they forgot to give Bad Land Bill the score keeper a gold nugget ! Congratulations to Beaver Run Kid with the overall win and fantastic stage times, great shoot en Kid !
A big thank you to everyone in attendance at the fun shoot yesterday evening and an extra special thank you for those who brought food. Everyone had a good time and enjoyed great food.
It has been decided that after the fun shoot on September 2nd there will be a picnic. The Committee will provide Hot Dogs on the "hillbilly microwave" and a few sides. Shooters should feel free to bring something to share if they want, but it is not required.
Please take a close look at these photos. This is a reminder that the club does not exist to provide people with stuff to destroy, nor does it staff a cleaning crew to deal with messes like this. People join clubs like ours to get away from this sort of entitlement attitude often seen on public ranges.
This particular structure was built to be A TABLE, which most rational people can figure out by the fact that there are numerous structures just like it placed UP RANGE all throughout the club property conveniently on concrete slabs. People paid for the material to build that table. People spent time putting that table together so that other members would have A TABLE at that particular location of the property.
Finally, whoever did this, your aim is horrible. Seriously, the most distance you can squeeze out of pit 6 is 25 yards and I bet you were standing closer than that. When you eventually get caught you will be removed from the club.
There is a correction for the August Buffalo Shoot Our own Dusty Ed shot a 31 on the long range shoot, the end of the year number is still correct and he is still in first place with Mike and Ted right behind him looking forward to see who will have their name place on the Buffalo Rifle Trophy for the year 2015.
Scores for the August Buffalo Rifle are now posted for your Entertainment. August was a pretty light match with some of our regular shooters missing August match. All in All it turn out to be a great day with great bunch of shooters. Looking at the scores year to date we have a new leader for the first time and it's the one and only Dusty Ed with his trusty Shiloh Sharps with Ted and Mike right behind him. The question is will we have a new name to place on the trophy this year or will John S. come back with a vengeance to capture the title for three years in a row. Only the sharps will know. I will be missing September match due a mini Vacation so Dusty Ed and it scares me to say Joey "It's the Bullets" Catone will be running the match. Good Luck and Good Shooting
